Pretty soon you can do more with your Apple iPod than just listen to your tunes. You’ll be able to use your iPod to start your car! Yup, you read that right. If your new car happens to be the new, soon-to-be produced Chrysler Peapod EV (who came up with that name, by the way - the marketing guy for the Green Giant brand?), you will be able to dock your iPod with your ignition switch, start your car up and off you go.

This “car,” if you haven’t seen a picture of one already, isn’t exactly what you’d call “secure.” Huge windows (imagine the eyes of a preying mantis and you’ve about got it) just beg to be broken into. And apparently, some “genius” has come up with this plan to link the two pods (Peapod/iPod) together. Software is being developed that “supposedly” is not only interchangeable, but secure! Now, everyone in the neighborhood (who owns an iPod that is) will be able to drive your car! What a great way to help save the earth and environment… communal driving!

The only saving grace is that the Peapod has a maximum cruising speed of 25 mph, and can’t get farther than 30 miles on a single electrical charge, so there’s a good chance that if someone drives away in your EV, you can catch them on your bike. Just follow the music.
